Carnegie Library
of Homestead
Built in 1898, one of the over 2,000 public libraries founded by steel tycoon Andrew Carnegie, this library features a music hall, swimming pool, and several reading rooms. In one of these reading rooms, I was asked to design historically accurate decorative window treatments. As with most projects, I started with a drawing with my proposed design to be approved by the client. With their go-ahead, we installed 15' brocade drapery panels, in a crimson and green stripe, with goblet pleats attached to two massive mahogany rods.

Spencer Residence
When the Spencer's bought this 7 bedroom mansion, built in 1903 in Pittsburgh's affluent Shadyside neighborhood, it was obvious it was in great need of an update. Sparing no expense, the house was gutted and completely renovated; I was hired to focus on the dining room, family room, several bedrooms, and various other spots throughout this vast home. In the dining room and family room I chose dupioni silk drapery panels in a deep periwinkle and ivory color, respectively. In a guest bedroom we installed custom roman shades and the master features extra full yellow silk drapes with a baby blue lamb skin banding, to match the custom made lamb skin headboard.
